Marilyn
Brodwick, a native of Los Angeles, possesses the unique ability to capture many
aspects of aging and to present them in a stunning manner.
Brodwick started taking pictures as a hobby after college when she
enrolled in a photography class. Turns out that she signed up for the advanced class by
mistake but decided to stay after quickly mastering the basics.
Brodwick coordinates the Center on Aging's Volunteer Registry at
the University of Texas Medical Branch. Her art and work came together when she discovered
that the elderly people she knew were dynamic subjects in front of the camera. Brodwick,
who has been taking pictures for 25 years, was one of four area photographers to
receive a 1995-96 fellowship from the Houston Center for Photography.
