Dr. Dyer and her interdisciplinary team of healthcare professionals see a variety of patients through BCM’s Geriatrics Program at the Harris County Hospital District. These include: all patients over the age of 75; patients younger than 65 with memory problems, functional deficits, complex social situations, depression and other geriatric syndromes; adult patients who experience abuse or neglect and patients eligible for a Gold Card.

Dr Braun is an attending in the geriatric clinic at the VA, and she has her own panel of patients in the afternoon.

She is consultant for 4 private Alzheimer facilities in Kingwood, the Woodlands, Sugarland and Cypresswood. She is a physician researcher at the HCQCUS/VAMC with an interest in end of life care.

Dr. Culberson is an attending on the inpatient Geriatric Evaluation Unit and sees patients at the Houston VA ambulatory geriatric clinic on Tues., Wed., and Fri. mornings. Patient visits vary from the preventative geriatrics to management of multiple chronic diseases in patients nearing the end-of-life. There is also an urgent care component.

Dr. Garcia is Director of the Geriatrics Fellowship Program. In addition she is Medical Director of the wound care clinic and consult service at the VA where the population is not necessarily geriatric. She is an attending on the inpatient Geriatric Evaluation Unit and in the Nursing Home Care Unit, also at the VA. Her areas of interest are in education and wound care.

Dr. Kunik sees geropsychiatry patients at the Houston VA geropsych outpatient clinic on Friday mornings. Most of the patients have dementia with behavioral disturbances, depression or chronic mental illnesses.

.Dr. Morrison sees patients primarily on the St. Luke’s Palliative Care Consult Service and in the hospice setting. The St. Luke’s service complements other inpatient medical care in addressing symptom management, quality of life, goals of care, and end of life issues.

Dr. Salmeron sees patients in the Academic Geriatric Service at Baylor College of Medicine. The setting includes the hospital based practice, the skilled unit as well as the assisted living facility. Home visits and safety assessments are also performed with the Geriatric team. The students get an opportunity to work with Geriatric Fellows and Faculty.

Our practice sees geriatric patients in a variety of care settings including clinic, hospital, nursing home, assisted living and home. We see a diverse patient population from highly functional and active to extremely debilitated and frail. Dementia, palliative care, and rehabilitation are common issues addressed in this population. The practice uses a multi-disciplinary team approach to patient care and includes the expertise of nurses, physicians, social workers, pharmacists, psychiatrists, therapists and dieticians.

Dr. Tan has a varied practice ranging from wellness in the aging male (50 years and above) to Alzheimer's and chronic illness patients. He sees patients at the following sites:

1) Michael E DeBakey VAMC, where he is also Clinical Director, Extended Care Line. He attends on the Transitional Care Unit and Geriatric Evaluation Unit.

2) St. Dominic's Village, where he is also Medical Director. SDV has patients in the nursing home, assisted living and independent living.

3) Garden Terrace Alzheimer's Center, where he is Co-Medical Director. GT has patients who have cognitive and behavioral issues both in the SNF and nursing home.

4) West Loop UT Multispecialty Clinic- a faculty private practice model in the Galleria vicinity.
