2004 Annual Spring Forum and Luncheon

The Huffington Center on Aging held its annual Spring Forum on April 29, 2004, at the Houston Racquet Club. Ranjit C. Chacko, M.D., Professor of Psychiatry, Menninger Department of Psychiatry, Baylor College of Medicine, spoke on Depression—noting the different ways it can be manifested and treated. Victor J. Narcisse III, M.D., Assistant Professor, Department of Medicine/Geriatrics, Baylor College of Medicine, spoke on Can We Preserve Memory— noting when memory loss indicated serious illness and when it was a natural maturing of the brain. Willa Decker, R.N. gave a delightful motivational talk titled Life is Too Short to Wear Anything Tight. This forum was attended by 170 people, the largest number to date. The evaluation forms returned by the guests indicated that it was extremely well received with many respondents asking for more of the same! The Spring Forum was partially underwritten by the Isla Carroll Turner Friendship Trust. – Carolyn Stubbs
