Distance
Learning
The TCGEC Distance Learning Initiative
offers distant learners the opportunity to engage in online
education that meets their learning needs and is taken at
their convenience. We've assembled
links to pages organized around major geriatrics topics,
themes, and online resources, from which one can acquire useful
information tailored to their various needs.
We hope you, the distant learner, choose topics that will
increase your fund of knowledge and that you use to build
a course for your students or content you review prior to
writing an information prescription for your patients and/or
clients.
Should you choose to join the dozens of your colleagues presently
enrolled and formally enter the TCGEC Professional Development
Program, simply do the following:
- Register by completing our Online
Registration Form
- Complete 40 clock hours of online learning you choose
from the Resources
List.
- Let us know which sites were visited and how you feel
that they helped you by completing our Online
Time Tracking Form .
- If you are associated with another GEC, please inform
us so you aren't counted twice as an enrollee or program
completer -- e.g. your home GEC should only count you .50
and the TCGEC will count you as a .50 program completer.
Upon completion of this process, you will be awarded a certificate
of completion and counted among the thousands nationwide who
are providing better care to older Americans. Your only cost
is your time.
You may contact the Distance Learning Coordinator, Ms. Mehrnaz
Gill at (713) 798-5805 or e-mail her at mgill@bcm.edu.
