The sites on our menu may not have been
peer-reviewed; therefore the user should be especially attentive
to the four elements from which one can infer the accuracy
of the health content on a particular web page:
- Authorship -- who wrote or published the piece, an individual
or organization with impeccable credentials?
- Attribution -- did the writer cite references to the literature
or widely accepted guidelines in making recommendations
or stipulations about particular situations and/or practices?
- Disclosure -- did the writer make clear the source of
funding for the piece, a private foundation or federal grant,
a for-profit group, etc.?
- Currency -- is it clear when the material was first posted
and how recently it has been updated?

that one may use to evaluate the accuracy of health information
