Welcome to the Function-Valued Trait Website

This site currently serves as a focal point for a broad collaboration of biologists, mathematicians, and statisticians working on the development and application of methods for the analysis of function-valued traits. Currently our research groups consists of 10 members, and we are funded by NSF (PIs Richard Gomulkeiwicz and Pat Carter).

• What are function-valued traits (FVTs)?
  Function-valued traits are best described by example. Growth as a function of temperature, gene expression as a function of time, and activity behavior as a function of age are all function-valued traits.

  Traditional analysis of the genetics and evolution of function-valued traits has relied on multivariate approaches, which have severe limitations in this application.
