Educational training program for paraprofessional service providers in geriatric settings

Paraprofessionals in terms of
Knowledge of Paraprofessionals
Skills of Paraprofessionals
Values/Attitudes of Paraprofessionals

Client Systems, in terms of
Satisfaction with Service Received from Paraprofessionals
satisfaction of clients
satisfaction of family members and/or significant others

Methodology:
Pre-test and Post-test Paraprofessionals' Knowledge, Skills, and Values/Attitudes to determine "the difference" pre- and post-training
Pre-test and Post-test Sample of Client Systems' Satisfaction with Quality of Care to determine "the difference" pre- and post- training of the paraprofessionals

Timetable for Pilot Testing :

Spring & Summer 1998
Identify the participating paraprofessionals, Solicit input from paraprofessionals, clients, and administration for use in development of training materials,
Develop the training materials and research instruments.

Fall, 1998
Collect baseline data" to show beginning levels of knowledge, skills, and values,
Train the trainers,
Provide the training to first group of paraprofessionals,
Collect "research data' after the training.
