Texas Geriatrics Interest Foundation

The Texas Geriatrics Interest Foundation (TGIF) is a joint organization of medical students interested in aging at the University of Texas School of   Medicine and Baylor College of Medicine, located in the Texas Medical Center, Houston, Texas.

TGIF is a student chapter  affiliated with the  American Geriatrics Society.   Current and future medical students can learn more about the care of older people on this Web site. Future areas will include these areas: 1) basic information on the field of geriatrics and it's importance to the future of health care; 2) interviews with leading geriatricians involved with different aspects of elder care, e.g., community practice, acute care in affiliated teaching hospitals,  basic and clinical research, clinician/educators; 3) pathways to graduate training in geriatrics; 4) resources available to students interested in research, clinical experiences, community service opportunities, and scholarships to pursue training; 5) links to interesting aging sites; and 6) TGIF Activities and Calendar.

Shown below are the officers from 1998. This page will be maintained by Mr. Amit Shah, who can be contacted at amitshah@writeme.com and (713) 838-2278.
